Pledging to stand up in the fight for kids with cancer, Shawn Vinson will shave his head for the annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation event. At 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, at Helen Fitzgerald’s, Shawn Vinson and other community leaders will “brave the shave” to show their support for children in treatment for cancer. Shawn is participating in memory of his friend, Jeremy Brown; he plans to challenge other ambassadors in the community to take part in the event and has set a fundraising goal of $19,000.

Money raised by the St. Baldrick’s Foundation goes toward childhood cancer research. The foundation works closely with pediatric oncologists to determine the most promising research, in order to create funding priorities to make the greatest impact for children with cancer. Worldwide, 175,000 children are diagnosed with cancer each year.
