Shawn Vinson Nominated for Alive Magazine’s “People Making a Difference” Feature
The November issue of Alive Magazine included a feature on People Making a Difference in St. Louis. Along with other St. Louisians such as Susannah Danforth, Sam Hall, Brian Kennedy, and Elle Potter, Shawn was recognized for “effecting positive change in 2015.”
Effecting positive change continues to be part of what Vinson Mortgage Group aspires to do, both in community involvement and charity sponsorships and in the way we support our client’s dreams of home ownership and debt management.
Here’s the write up from Alive — one quote in particular jumped out at us as being EXACTLY what Vinson Mortgage Group is all about:
For most people, facing financial situations is not easy and most people’s biggest fears, yet we make it easy for them to save money and put them in a better place financially.
From Alive Magazine Online – November Issue:
Shawn Vinson knows what it’s like to rise through the ranks: He started at the very bottom of a marketing department of a mortgage company in 1998 and worked his way up through each department, eventually becoming president of his own company. His success, he says, is mostly due to his great-grandmother, who taught his father the value in giving back. “It’s in our blood to be successful at whatever it is we are doing,” Vinson says. “We believe giving back is the definition of success.” In Vinson’s role, he’s able to help others each day. “For most people, facing financial situations is not easy and most people’s biggest fears, yet we make it easy for them to save money and put them in a better place financially,” he says. He also extends his family’s philosophy to the community: He founded the Vinson Mortgage Charity of Choice, designed to help smaller local charities that need donations by marketing them on TV and radio to help them get off the ground. The company has helped more than 30 charities through this program and donated well over $1 million to further their causes. “The most rewarding part of my job is helping others with their finances, all the while performing charitable work and donations mostly within our St. Louis community,” Vinson says.
